I am a journalist and licensed tour guide, born and raised Philadelphia.I moved to Israel in 2006 after completing my undergraduate degree in Spanish and Journalism at the University of Oregon where I also worked as a sports reporter. After serving in the IDF as a Combat Soldier in an Infantry Brigade, I earned an M.A. from Tel Aviv University in Diplomacy and Middle East Studies and worked as a Research Assistant in the Knesset, Israel’s Parliament.  I have lived in both Spain and New Zealand. Kibbutz Ein Harod Ihud in the Jezreel Valley was home during my IDF service and Tel Aviv during graduate school.  Married life brought me to Rehovot.

I have served as a Guide for Foreign Journalists, Visiting Academics, Business Executives, Students and Families.

Trekking, visiting Israel’s wineries and discovering the country’s rich culinary treats are great ways to experience Israeli and Middle Eastern cultures.
I am fascinated by the multitude of faces and cultures that make up Israel and by what history and archeology can teach us about our past and the way it can shape our future.  Education via tourism about the three monotheistic faiths is a prime interest, and I am especially interested in the Golden Age of Jewish and Muslim coexistence in the Iberian Peninsula and the ever-evolving relationship between Judaism, Christianity and Islam in the Middle East.

Each region in Israel is distinct and engages each visitor in a unique way.  I find Jerusalem, Tel Aviv and Ramla to be particularly engaging.  And, it’s always an adventure hiking in the Judean Desert, Negev and Israel’s north.

People on my tours especially enjoy the Negev wine trail, local souks (Middle Eastern bazaars) and discovering the joys of the Holy Land’s unique culinary delights.

The daily New York Times crossword puzzle and a cup of botz (mud) coffee is how I begin each day.  You can often find me on the basketball courts of Rehovot or eating Hummus in Tel Aviv’s Yemenite Quarter.

Nature is my classroom and the world my playground.
