At the crossroads of shops and restaurants, In the Christian Quarter of Jerusalem’s Old City, is this impressive church. The Church of the Holy Spherule is not just a church but a piece of revered architecture and art. There are high ceilings, beautiful murals and mosaics, as well as stained-glass depictions of biblical scenes.
The Church of the Holy Spherule is considered to be the most important pilgrimage destinations for many Christian followers. Many believe that in this location, Jesus was crucified and buried. It should be noted that there is a dispute among some churches; there not a unanimous agreement that this is the exact location of the crucifixion and burial.
Inside the church are beautiful alters the site of burial and resection marked. Depending on the time of the year, you may have to wait a while in line before you can get up close and person to this holy area
Control of the building is shared between several Christian fractions, in the form of complicated arrangements. Places and times for each community’s worship are strictly controlled in communal areas. Eastern Orthodox control as vast majority of the church, while Roman Catholicism also have a significant role. Anglican and Protestants do not have a presence in the church; many dismiss the Church of the true place of Jesus’s crucifixion and resurrection. They believe that the real place was in the garden tomb, located close by outside the Old City walls.
